**As of 18th October 2024, we have taken the difficult decision to close our waiting list. This is a temporary measure and we hope to be able to take on referrals again soon. **
Nomad exists to improve access to decent, affordable housing while helping people to transition out of homelessness. Nomad provides ongoing support to enable clients to develop the skills and resilience to avoid homelessness in the future.
We rely on your support.
We are a small charity, with no government funding. We rely entirely on fundraising from grants, rental income and donations from the public. Without your support, we wouldn’t be able to provide housing for people who are struggling with homelessness in Sheffield.
Our Project Pathway
1. Referral Process
Everyone undergoes assessment through:
- Meeting with a qualified Nomad Housing & Progression Officer.
- Providing references from health services and previous employers or personal connections.
- Participating in workshops focusing on tenants’ expectations, responsibilities, and rights.
2. Nomad Training Flats
We provide Supported Exempt Accommodation. With a dedicated Housing & Progression Officer visiting regularly, tenants learn about budgeting and completing important tasks (e.g. enrolling in college or registering with a GP). Clients can stay for 6 months or longer, as needed, to develop tenancy skills.
3. Four Trees Lettings Accommodation
After gaining tenancy experience, clients can transition to private shared accommodation through Four Trees Lettings. Our Housing and Progression Officers still continue to support them in finding work, developing life skills, and building social connections.
4. Clarity Lettings - A Home for Life
Once individuals feel experienced and capable, they can transition from shared accommodation to private rentals through Clarity Lettings. Support is provided on an as-needed basis thereafter.
Four Trees Lettings was set up by Nomad in 2022. Four Trees helps clients transition to shared accommodation, focus on securing employment, and gain financial independence.
Clarity Lettings was strategically acquired by Nomad in 2022 to recommend suitable tenancies for clients, enhance collaboration with landlords, and provide financial support.
