Bossing the Marathon

Steve Rundell joined Nomad Opening Doors just one year ago, but he has already had a big influence on our small charity. Helping Nomad to navigate the global pandemic and supporting our experienced Housing Team and Operations Lead to thrive in challenging conditions.

Now he’s taking on an even bigger challenge than Covid, he’ll be taking part in the UK Boston Marathon to raise funds for Nomad’s work. Steve hopes to raise £250.00 for Nomad, the average cost of a training course for one of our clients.

Steve is a big supporter of Nomad’s approach to providing training courses and said: “I was a teacher for many years before I joined the third sector, I have seen the value of education. When it comes to our clients, so many have missed the opportunity to gain qualifications, either because no one believed in them when they needed it, or they didn’t believe in themselves. We’ve seen time and time again how gaining a qualification can not only help
find employment, but help our clients find a self-belief they didn’t know they
were capable of.”

Steve’s race takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, the 31st May this year. The team at Nomad will be unable to attend in person to cheer him on, but we’ll be celebrating with him in spirit.
