Karis’ Road Back into Employment

When Karis* came to Nomad, she had recently lost her job and had become homeless. She moved into our supported accommodation but initially struggled to engage and was experiencing significant mental health challenges, which quickly led to rent arrears.

Working closely with a Nomad Housing and Progression Officer, Karis accessed medical support, stabilised her wellbeing, and repaid her arrears. With her confidence improving, she began to focus on re-entering the workforce. We supported her to update her CV, identify suitable roles, and prepare for interviews, ensuring she was equipped for a successful return to employment.

In September, Karis secured paid work at a nearby hotel. She subsequently moved on from our training flat into independent living, demonstrating how targeted employment support can create sustainable, long-term outcomes.
