Lisa’s Story

Background
Lisa* became a tenant with NOMAD in July 2024, beginning her journey toward independent living with the support of our team. She first moved into one of our training flats, where she received weekly visits from her housing officer to help her manage her mental health, maintain housing stability, and build positive relationships.

Building Confidence and Independence
By October 2024, Lisa felt ready to take the next step. In agreement with her housing officer, she moved into St Elizabeth’s – our communal supported accommodation and a key stepping stone toward private renting.

Lisa settled in quickly and began to grow in confidence and independence. With consistent encouragement and support from her housing officer, she started actively searching for employment. While the process was initially challenging, Lisa remained determined and positive.

Transition to Private Rented Housing
In March 2025, Lisa shared during a support meeting that she felt ready to move on from supported accommodation. Around the same time, she was offered an interview for a full-time role at a local call centre.

Knowing that staying at St Elizabeth’s would be financially difficult if she secured the job, her housing officer worked with her to explore private renting options through NOMAD. Lisa was offered a viewing at a property on Wadbrough Road and immediately accepted – especially excited by the spacious attic room and the fact it was on the same street as her interview.

Lisa was supported throughout the tenancy sign-up process, ensuring a smooth and stress-free transition into her new home.

A Positive Outcome
Just days after moving in, Lisa attended her interview – and got the job. She now works full-time and is thriving in both her employment and new home.

Lisa reflects on her journey with pride and looks to the future with optimism. With support from NOMAD at every step, she has achieved two major milestones: securing stable housing and sustainable employment – and she continues to move forward with growing confidence and independence.
